Two people are under arrest on drug charges after a shooting incident yesterday afternoon on the eastside of Columbus.

Police were on their way to a report of a disturbance at McKinley Avenue and Smith Street at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, when more reports came in of shots being fired. Police stopped a vehicle that had been seen fleeing the area. Inside the vehicle were 35-year-old Adrian S. Baker of Brownstown, 18-year-old Victoria L. Smith of Seymour and a 15-year-old girl.

Baker first told officers that he had been shot, but paramedics could find no signs of a gunshot wound, says Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus police. A search of the car revealed a BB gun and both Baker and Smith allegedly were carrying methamphetamine in their clothes.

They were arrested on preliminary drug possession charges. The juvenile girl was released to her parents.
