Stroll with an ugly sweater Thursday in Columbus

Downtown merchants in Columbus want to see your ugliest Christmas sweaters on Thursday. The organization is kicking off a downtown business promotion for the holidays with an “Ugly Holiday Sweater Stroll” on Thursday night.

Erin Hawkins, director of marketing for the Columbus Area Visitors Center, said there will be live entertainment, contests and extended store hours during the stroll from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. She explains that wearing ugly Christmas sweaters is turning into a big craze right now.

If you don’t have an ugly holiday sweater, or if you have one that you don’t think is ugly enough, The Commons will be offering a decorating station to help make you look worse.

You will also be able to earn chances to win prizes by shopping at downtown merchants for the next week. Prizes will be awarded on Friday, Dec. 18th, which is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
