Lowe’s seeks food donations at parade

The Festival of Lights Parade is in downtown Columbus Saturday night. Workers and managers at Lowe’s Home Improvement Center in Columbus hope that you will celebrate with a new tradition this year, bringing canned food to donate to Love Chapel.

The store is partnering with White River Broadcasting for the parade and will bring a decorated flatbed semi and a small army of volunteers to help “Fill the Flatbed” with non-perishable canned goods.

Justin Barrett, assistant store manager for Lowe’s, said the company was looking for a way to take part in the parade and get more involved in the community. They settled on a food drive of canned food, whose silver color fits the silver anniversary theme of this year’s parade, Barrett said.

The parade starts at 6 p.m.
