Bartholomew County deputies are looking for whoever is spray painting road signs.

They first were reported at about 12:30 a.m. this morning on County Road 550W. Other affected areas include 525W, Carr Hill Road and Youth Camp Road.

The signs were painted with graffiti, profanity, nudity and swastikas.

Sheriff Matt Myers said this is about more than just property damage.

“This is also a public safety issue and I urge anyone with any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to please call us,” Myers said. “This is very concerning because when motorists can’t read these signs, it definitely creates opportunities for very serious accidents.”
