County gets good news on boiler replacements

Bartholomew County officials got some good news this week about replacing expensive boilers that have failed at the county jail.

Rick Trimpe, maintenance supervisor for the county, told the County Council this week that the jail has had three hot-water boilers fail this year and each one will cost about $30,000 to replace. However, he said the county recently found out that insurance will cover the largest part of those replacements.

He said that the county will only have to pay the $2,500 dollar deductible on each boiler, instead of the full price. That will save the county more than $80,000.
