A Jackson County woman was hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Bartholomew County.
Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Judy Jackson says that just before 8 a.m., Deputy Nick Martoccia was dispatched to the scene in the 9000 block of County Road 850 South. When he arrived, the Deputy reported finding a car off the road and the driver, 58-year-old Debra Posey, of Seymour, trapped inside.
Jackson says that Columbus Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated Posey from the vehicle. She says that initial indications are that Posey had been traveling east on CR 850 S, just east of CR 450 E, when she ran off the roadway. Jackson reports that this caused Posey to crossover into the westbound lane of CR 850 S. She then apparently over-corrected and crossed back into the eastbound lane before running off the road and crashing in to a tree.
The Sheriff’s Department is reporting that Posey was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance, then later transferred to Methodist Hospital due to her injuries. The extent of those injuries have not been released.
