The 50th annual Oktoberfest is underway in downtown Seymour.
The festival is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and Saturday. It features food vendors, arts and craft booths, a biergarten and carnival.
Many downtown Seymour streets are closed until Sunday due to the festival. There will be a shuttle bus running from the intersection of Walnut and Second Streets to Seymour High School starting at 4 p.m. today and after the parade on Saturday.
The parade gets underway at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon sponsored by Schneck Medical Center.
This afternoon and evening’s entertainment includes a chicken and polka dance contest, bluegrass music with Lost River Rising, Highway 46 Band, and Left Field String Band, the Schulhuas 4+3 German Band, a Hot Air Balloon Glow, Ryan David and the Roadhouse Band and the Hot Red Chili Peppers cover band.
The Seymour Museum Center will also be open from 3 to 6 p.m. at the corner of Third and Chestnut Streets.
