Local officials prepare for inauguration trip

Local officials are preparing for their trip to Washington D.C. to witness the inauguration of Columbus-native Mike Pence as the next Vice-President of the United States. Barb Hackman is the Bartholomew County Republican Party Chairwoman…

Hackman says that these buses will be making additional pickups in Richmond and New Castle.

The group will arrive in Washington D.C. Wednesday night, Jan. 18. On Thursday, the group will tour the nation’s capital before attending that evening’s Indiana Society Ball, co-chaired by Indiana First Lady Karen Pence…

The group will wrap up its trip on that Saturday when they hold a reception for state officials, including incoming Gov. Eric Holcomb and, hopefully, new Vice-President Pence. The group is scheduled to return home on Sunday, Jan.22.

Hackman says that just over 100 people are a part of this trip.
