City Council to consider tax-abatement request

A business in Columbus will be asking for tax breaks that it says will help to nearly quadruple its workforce.

According to documents filed with the city, Tallman Equipment Company, Inc. is planning a 68,800 square-foot expansion of its headquarters on South International Drive. The company says that over $3.8 million will be invested at the site in both real, and personal property, retaining five jobs and creating 14 new ones by the end of next year. Tallman says the average wage of these jobs will be $27.12 per hour.

The Columbus City Council will hear a request from the company for a 10-year tax-abatement when it meets Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
