Capt. Mike Wilson, spokesman for the Columbus Fire Department, says that firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Central Avenue for a house fire at approximately 8:07 a.m. He says the call came after homeowners noticed a strong odor of smoke inside the home. When firefighters arrived, Wilson says they found smoke coming from the attic vents and eaves.

Wilson says that an investigation determined that the fire was electrical in nature. Due to the damage, he explained that the home’s electrical service will be disconnected until repairs can be made. Damages are estimated at $1,500.
