Hope police look for help for area children

The Hope Police Department is looking for help, so officers can help children in the northeastern Bartholomew County community.

Marshal Matt Tallent says the police department has set up a Go Fund Me page online as they try to raise $2,000 to bring some Christmas cheer to children for their annual Hope Cops Christmas for Kids.

He said the police department tries to help 10 children a year at a cost of between $150 and $200 each. The effort relies heavily on donations. Last year, the police set up a Go Fund Me page and the response was so successful that they are trying it again, Tallent said.

As of this morning, about $760 had been raised toward the $2,000 goal.
