Columbus police arrested a man after he was found passed out in his running car on U.S. 31 last night.

A driver reported seeing the man in the car near U.S. 31 and Herman Darlage Drive at about 11:35 p.m. Thursday. The passerby tried to wake the driver and when the driver wouldn’t wake up the passerby put the car in park and turned the engine off.

When police approached the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. After waking up the driver, 20-year-old Gage R. Janusch of Columbus, he had to lean against the vehicle when he got out, just to maintain his balance and his speech was slurred, says Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus police.

After having his blood drawn at the hospital he was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated.
