Local man, wanted on warrant, arrested on drug charges

Columbus Police Department COPS Officers arrested a local man on a several charges Friday evening.

michael-colemanLt. Matt Harris, department spokesman, says that at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers reported seeing 49-year-old Michael A. Coleman standing on the front porch of a home in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street. Police say that Coleman had a warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody without incident a short time later.

While searching Coleman prior to taking him to jail, the officers reported finding marijuana and a bag of methamphetamine in his sweatshirt. The officers also allegedly found heroin and additional methamphetamine in Coleman’s pants pocket.

Coleman is facing preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Marijuana, in addition to the Bartholomew County Warrant.
