Capt. Mike Wilson, spokesman for the Columbus Fire Department, says that firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Street at about 6 a.m. after a neighbor noticed flames coming from the building. Wilson says that firefighters arrived at 1024 Pennsylvania St. within five minutes to find the garage, which sits about 25-feet from the home, fully engulfed in flames.

Wilson says that the extreme heat had begun to melt the vinyl siding of the home, while flames spread to a nearby wooden privacy fence. He added that flames also spread to the lawn and a large tree at 1020 Pennsylvania Street.

Wilson says that investigators believe they have identified the origin of the fire, but were unable to determine an exact cause. The garage will be considered a total loss, with total damages estimated at $15,000. No injuries were reported. According to tenants, both locations are managed by TLC Properties of Columbus, LLC.
