More homes sold, at lower prices, in Bartholomew County

Bartholomew County’s housing market for August saw an increase in pending sales.

F.C. Tucker says that, compared to August 2015, pending sales were up 14.4 percent. Jim Litten, F.C. Tucker CEO, says that he believes 2016 is shaping up to be “the best year since the housing market started its recovery.”

According to a report from the company, Bartholomew County was the only county to note a positive change in listings, up 74 homes at the end of August 2016. The report also noted a drop in home prices from this time last year. F.C. Tucker says that the average price of homes sold in Bartholomew County dropped over the same period. The average home price in August of 2016 was $193,072, compared to $195,970 in August of 2015. That’s a drop of 1.5-percent.
