State Road 3 to close in North Vernon

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will close State Road 3, in North Vernon, during daylight hours on Thursday and Friday. INDOT Spokesman Harry Maginity says the closures will take place in both directions, as needed, while crews install permanent pavement markings between Poplar and Henry Streets.

Maginity says this is a $3.9 million project to repair, widen and resurface just over one-half mile of the road, as well as replace the State Street bridge over CSX railroad tracks and O & M Avenue. He adds that the project also includes the installation of storm sewer trunk lines, sanitary sewer connections and sidewalks with curb ramps that are compliant with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
