A Johnson County woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash late Thursday morning in Bartholomew County.
Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Judy Jackson says that just before noon, deputies were dispatched to the scene at County Road 500 North, just west of County Road 250 West. Upon arrival, they found a car resting on its top.
Jackson says that the vehicle had been traveling east on a long gravel drive, located west of the intersection of 250W and 500N, when the driver lost control. Investigators say the car veered off the south side of the roadway, entered a deep ditch and striking the opposite side of the ditch. The crash caused the car to roll onto its top.
Jackson says that the driver, 35-year-old Megan E. Cummings, of Nineveh, died at the scene. She adds that Deputy Sgt. Kris Weisner was called to the scene to reconstruct the accident. The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Department credits the Columbus Township Fire Department for their assistance at the scene.
