Local fugitive arrested in Indianapolis

Dustin Allen EvansA local fugitive who eluded police for almost two weeks was arrested last night in Indianapolis.

The Columbus Police Department has announced that 26-year-old Dustin Allen Evans was captured last night on the east side of Indianapolis by a detective and community-oriented policing officer from Columbus.

Evans escaped into downtown Columbus on Nov. 17th, while being transported by the Edinburgh Police Department to the Bartholomew County Jail. He was then chased by police near Hope on Wednesday and Johnson County deputies tried to serve a warrant on Evans Saturday morning in Franklin.

He is wanted on warrants out of Scott, Johnson and Bartholomew counties, originally stemming from drug-related charges. He was considered armed and dangerous.

Monday night’s arrest came after tips from the public to the Edinburgh police and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. The Columbus police were assisted in the arrest by the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and the U.S. Marshall’s Office.20151201 dustin evans
