Jennings County deputies arrested 27-year-old Jonathan L. Evans on drug dealing charges Sunday morning after finding him asleep in his car facing the wrong way on County Road 500 South.
Lt. Mike Mowery, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, said that deputies found Evans in the car, parked facing west, in the eastbound lane of the road at about 7 a.m. Sunday.
While deputies questioned Evans, he told officers he was cold and asked them to retrieve his coat from the car. That’s when deputies allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia, a magazine for a handgun and cash. A search of the car allegedly revealed 16.5 grams of methamphetamine and equipment normally used to sell drugs, Mowery said.
Evans was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of meth, dealing meth, a violation of the legend drug act and possession of paraphernalia.
